With Billie-Shaye Style’s vibrant photo talents accompanying Caitlyn and Seth as they headed west, the outcome of this cactus engagement session is one that is surely on point! Between the couple’s western-boho style and Billie-Shaye’s use of light and framing images, each photo left us speechless at all the beauty. How did you get engaged? Tell us about your proposal.
Caitlyn: Seth proposed to me on our farm where we planned to get married and build our house. It’s a very special place to us.

Caitlyn: 200
What’s your wedding style?
Caitlyn: My style would definitely be western with a bohemian flare.
What’s your most fun purchase/hire to date?
Caitlyn: My wedding dress. When I put it on, it felt like it was made for me. I love everything about it.
What aspect of being engaged has surprised you the most?
Caitlyn: Probably the expectation to have my entire wedding planned as soon as I got engaged. As soon as Seth and I announced we were engaged, people wanted me to tell them all about a wedding I hadn’t even started planning yet! I had ideas of course, but nothing official had been discussed.
What have you most enjoyed about being engaged?
Caitlyn: I’ve really enjoyed people asking what I’m going to do for our wedding. I have some pretty unique ideas and I love sharing little snippets of my creativity with others.
Tell us about your engagement session. Where did it take place?
Caitlyn: In Arizona, we took pictures in the Desert Botanical Garden, Sedona, Monument Valley (partially in Utah), and along the Joshua Tree Scenic Highway. There was a lot of roadside pictures because Arizona is just so beautiful.
What’s the significance of the location?
Caitlyn: Do you ever feel like you belong somewhere even though you’ve never been? That was Arizona for me. There’s something about the desert and red rock that just called my name and I felt like I had to go. I knew that our trip would be amazing but all of my expectations were blown out of the water. Arizona is truly a magical place and we can’t wait to go back.
What was it like working with your photographer?
Caitlyn: Billie-Shaye is the BEST. She made us so comfortable and we had so much fun during our engagement session. She truly is an artist with a GREAT eye and she’ll do anything to get the perfect shot. We drove nearly 14 hours all together to get the shots we wanted and it was a life changing experience.
What did you like most about the session?
Caitlyn: I love the way Billie-Shaye uses light to her advantage. It takes her photography to the next level.
Would you recommend the photographer and why?
Caitlyn: Billie-Shaye is the most talented photographer I’ve ever seen. I found her over five years ago and knew she would be my photographer for my wedding. I booked with her before planning anything else about my wedding because I wanted her to be able to shoot it. Even though I already knew Billie-Shaye was amazing, our engagement shoot was better than anything we could have imagined. I’ll scream how great Billie-Shaye is from the rooftops for anyone who wants to hear it.

Caitlyn: Enjoy your engagement! If your photographer offers you a destination photo shoot, do it! It’s so much fun to see new places and you get to take pictures while exploring with the love of your life. That’s the best!
