Springtime weather in Tennessee is very unpredictable! And if you’re planning to have an outdoor wedding ceremony in Nashville, there are some questions you should ask your venue manager in advance. Today we have Marissa of The Barn at Sycamore Farms here to share all about the ins and outs of their weather-related logistics. The good news is that at Sycamore Farms, there are so many options for your ceremony – a full outdoor ceremony on their island, a semi-outdoor ceremony under their covered patio, or a fully enclosed climate controlled ceremony in the luxury barn. Booking a wedding venue with multiple rain plan options like The Barn at Sycamore Farms is definitely ideal and it will save you any potential headaches that may come with the weather. So without further ado, I’ll leave it to Marissa to share all about why you should have a backup plan for your outdoor ceremony!
Marissa: We have a large rain option for ceremonies called our sycamore veranda. Able to accommodate 250, this space is perfect to host a dry wedding with the same gorgeous backdrop and outside feel of a wedding on our ceremony island. You can also get married inside our climate controlled main hall for a more intimate desired ceremony.
Marissa: We play it by ear! We never want to force the bride into something they don’t want but we try to prepare a plan b depending on weather about a week out. Then 3 days prior to the event we reconvene. Then the day before we make a decision to coordinate details successfully with all involved vendors.
Marissa: Setting 50% of the space is highly suggested. This, depending on guest count, may be too big of a job for rentals and catering staff to reset a whole room with all necessary items within the designated cocktail hour time. You don’t want your guests getting antsy! Either way is feasible and completely up to the groups vision, budget, and timeline.
Marissa: I would not recommend a tent for our outside space. The cost of this to the group would out-weigh its competition of our covered verandas. Also eliminating the southern atmosphere which is why this space is so stunning.
Marissa: Yes, on rainy days there is a 2ft lip surrounding all edges of the verandas, giving a nice, large dry space to host your ceremony. However, when snow or ice is present, or it is under 40 degrees, outside ceremonies are prohibited.
