How did you get engaged?  Tell us about your proposal:

Autumn: Scott is a neurosurgery resident and was on an away rotation for 3 months at MD Anderson in Houston. During the week, Scott talked to me about how much he was dreading call and how terrible it was. I decided to try to brighten his day in Houston by sending him lunch to the hospital. After I told Scott lunch was on it's way, little to my knowledge, Scott called to ask what was in the bag and inform the woman that she had a free lunch because he was in Nashville! My best friend Liz invited me to a Sounds game and I accepted. Shortly after I arrived with friends, a lady walked up to me and my friend Amanda and said that a random fan was selected to throw the first pitch and based on their seats it was one of us. Amanda didn't want to do it because she was in a dress (so I thought), so I volunteered! I texted and tried to FaceTime Scott to share the good news, but he said he was going into the OR and didn't respond. I was excited to send the video to him and knew he would think it was awesome! There were 2 different rain delays, causing me, Liz, and Amanda to go up into the top area of the stadium and hang out. Liz ensured that the group stayed around the section in case the lady came back. I was warming up her arm the whole time! After the rain delay the lady came back and got Amanda, Liz and me and walked us to the third base line. Liz and I threw the ball around, then finally I went out on the mound. Booster (Sounds mascot) kept pointing at random things in the stadium (while Scott was getting in place). I threw the first pitch, then started to walk off the field. I heard my name on the loud speaker and they said to look at the catcher. I thought, ok, who is the catcher?? When Scott took the mask off I realized it was him and freaked out because I couldn't believe he was in Nashville and knew it was happening!! They said to look at the scoreboard which said WILL YOU MARRY ME? I turned around to him and he was down on his knee. I was stunned and so incredibly happy! After the initial shock I finally said YES! Scott rented out the Band Box which was soon filled with family and close friends. They all celebrated with food and drinks and had a great time!! Everyone stayed until the end and the Sounds won with a go ahead home run!!! Check out the news story below!

What have you most enjoyed about being engaged?

Autumn: Being engaged is so much fun! It is so exciting to think about marrying Scott and starting our lives together in just a few short months. I have been overwhelmed by the love of my family and friends and experiencing their excitement and support for us has probably been my favorite part of being engaged.

Tell us about your engagement session. Where did it take place?

Autumn: Our engagement session took place at our venue- Graystone Quarry. We hired Details Nashville at one of the Nashville Bridal Shows and couldn't have done better! They were so fun to work with and really made Scott and I feel comfortable and natural.

What’s the significance of the location?

Autumn: Graystone Quarry is our wedding venue. We tried to minimize shots that showed the ceremony and reception building, but got some great grounds shots. We loved this venue because it is natural and somewhat simple, but elegant and inviting.

What did you like most about the session?

Autumn: I enjoyed cracking jokes with the guys of Details Nashville and learning more about them and their passion for photography. There was a lot of kissing involved and I didn't mind that either 🙂

Is there anything else you'd like to share with NBG readers?

Autumn: This was our second set of engagement pictures (the first was a free session I won with a different photographer). I think it is helpful to have a “warm-up” and do more than one. Staring at someone, even your best friend, for 2 hours is not the most natural thing to do. We felt much more knowledgeable about the process and with each other the second time around. Or just book Details Nashville. 🙂
