An Edgy, Elegant, Moody Styled Shoot by Elizabeth Looney Photography | Nashville Tennessee Styled Shoots & Trends

Black wedding dress, black airbrushed cake, antler centerpiece, leather jackets… this one is for the unconventional bride! Although the season is bright and summery, we're looking forward to Fall – (especially since we're featuring Fall wedding dresses on Today in Nashville today!). So dark and moody it is! This shoot really caught my eye on Instagram and I asked Elizabeth Looney Photography if she could share it with us on the blog! I'm loving the combination of dark colors mixed with subtle pops of pastel pinks and purples – Southern Sparkle Events did such an incredible job with the styling and overall look! Keep scrolling to see more of this shoot below and hear from the photographer Elizabeth about what it was like on set!

What was the theme of the styled shoot and what inspired it?

Elizabeth: “Edgy elegance”. The “little black dress” had always been a statement of class and elegance – so why not a black wedding dress? Mountains and caves and even a black veil we made added to our inspiration.

What details were used to create the theme?

Elizabeth: The farm table included a long and draping black runner. The table was adorned with vintage candelabras, thrift store china, gold stemware and black napkins to complete the look. The florals were chosen to have a combination of sophistication but also have a wild carefree look to them. Her bouquet included the delicate hellebore flowers and fern tree foliage, but also flowers that were not so delicate with the scabies pods. An ode to the “groom” and his career in the music industry, the statement making cake from Puffy Muffin, sat on top of a vintage record player. For the ceremony, we decided to let the gorgeous background and the couple be the focal point and kept it simple with an abundance of candles.

Were there any special requests or unique challenges that you had to work together to overcome?

Elizabeth: The only challenges were really just the cold. Typical Tennessee weather where it was 60 and spring like a few days before and freezing cold the day of the photo shoot! And the hike to the top. But seeing that view made the hike so worth it!

Thank you so much for sharing this shoot with us Elizabeth! You can check out more of Elizabeth Looney Photography's work here on her website and also here on Instagram!
