Tell us about AH Studios KY and how long you’ve been in business.
Ashlyn: I’m a wedding and portrait photographer based near the Kentucky, Tennessee state line. I’ve been a photographer for almost 5 years now! Crazy! I work with wedding couples that value memories and a personable experience on their wedding day!
How did you get started in weddings?
Ashlyn: I first started out associate photographing for other wedding photographers, then slowly fell in love with them. I love how detailed the day is and those small moments that only the camera can see and the guests can’t!
What’s the philosophy behind AH Studios KY?
Ashlyn: After photographing more than many weddings over the past few years, I’ve really come to value the unexpected, intimate moments that take place on a wedding day. The hug your mom gives you before you leave your dressing room. The tear that falls down his cheek when he sees you walking down the aisle. The way the two of you lean your heads together during the toasts. This day is about more than the flowers and the shoes you chose. It’s about celebrating the start of a new family. It’s an honor to play a part in such a significant day. I understand that your Wedding Day is so important and therefore it’s really important to me as well!
What are your strengths compared to other photographers?
Ashlyn: One of my biggest strengths I think is being able to connect with my brides and grooms beyond just being their photographer. I like to think they consider me their friend by the end of their day. I’m someone they can count on and come to. I’m their “person”, in the words of Christina Yang.
What attracts couples to AH Studios KY?
Ashlyn: What I have noticed over the years of photographing weddings is that my brides and grooms gravitate towards me as their photographer because of how open I am about my personality. I want my clients to know who I am before they even book me. I let them in on my world, my emotions, and my life throughout my social media and website. I want them to know that when they hire me, they aren’t just hiring a robot that is really great with equipment and wants their check. They’re hiring a person, who genuinely cares about their day and what the most important are to them. I feel like I connect to most of my clients since I’m married myself as well. I remember the same doubts and concerns I had for my wedding day. I remember how my photographer treated me. So I always think of myself in their shoes and do what I think is best for my brides and grooms as well as what their wishes are!
What are some trends you’re seeing right now in your category of the wedding industry?
Ashlyn: One trend I really love right now is asking the officiant to stand to the side for the couple’s first kiss and capturing the first kiss with the ceremony attendees in the back of the photo! Seeing that photo after it is captured really puts you back in time like you are there again!
Is there anything else you’d like to share about AH Studios KY?
Ashlyn: Working with couples in this industry has made me such a better person internally. I value things like kindness, respect, and love so much more than I ever did before I became a photographer. I value memories and moments more. And all I want for my couples is for them to have those monumental memories captured so they can look back on it for the rest of their lifetime, and their kids after them!
