Missy + Paul’s Casual Backyard Wedding in Nashville by And How! Imaging

Friday, June 16, 2017

Simple + sweet weddings are some of my favorite weddings! And Missy + Paul's wedding was just that! They married on a private property on a warm October day with a DIY wooden door ceremony backdrop, a laid-back tented reception and all the love surrounded by friends + family. I love their wedding vibe and from the smiles across everyone's faces + the super fun group photos, it seems as though they have such a tight-knit group of friends... my kind of people! Amy + Chuck of And How! Imaging captured both the silly moments and the deeply heartfelt moments so wonderfully - this wedding really captures the essence of the couple. Take a look at all their details below along with a snippet from Amy on the wedding from her perspective...

Wedding Team:

Rentals  | Grand Central Party Rentals

DJ | Your Dj Robert Luke

From the photographer, Amy of And How! Imaging: Missy and Paul's backyard wedding really reflected their laid back and fun personalities. They let go of so much stress and pressure that can often go along with weddings, and instead focused on what was important to them and just had a total blast with each other (and their closest family and friends!) It was such a beautiful day, and while we were surrounded by laughter, shenanigans, and a few happy tears, we were reminded of just how incredible our jobs are.

Some of our favorite highlights from their wedding day include Paul and his groomsmen pulling off their best "hangover" impressions (#squadgoals) while walking down their neighborhood street. Their first look was absolutely fantastic and could have melted the coldest of hearts, but still didn't stop the beautiful reaction Paul had when he saw Missy walking towards him down the aisle- as soon as she reached him they started their ceremony with (several) kisses. Also, their first dance, done to "Home" by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, was so sweet- you could tell they were both just incredibly happy.

We loved having the opportunity to meet these two awesome people, and then photograph their full wedding journey- from their engagement session, to their wedding, and then finishing up with a day after session as newlyweds!

I love this wedding, Amy + Chuck! Thank you for letting us in on Missy + Paul's special day! You can check out more of And How! Imaging's work here on their website and also here on Instagram!

Meredith + Eric’s Spring Wedding at Ascend Amphitheater by Smash Studios Photography

Friday, June 2, 2017

What do you get when you mix a downtown wedding, family heirlooms, artistic touches + even a London cab? Meredith + Eric's wedding! Their wedding took place on April Fools' Day, but let me tell you, it was no joke! As much of their relationship was based around music, their decision to break the mold and be the very first wedding at Ascend Ampitheater really shows how personalized and throught out their wedding was. The Nashville vibe was present throughout their day - with the Pedestrian Bridge as the backdrop of their wedding ceremony, skyline place cards for each guest and even Goo Goo Clusters available for guests to eat - it was truly magical! Take a look at all their gorgeous photos by Ashley of Smash Studios Photography and hear their unique story from Ashley's point of view below!

Event Venue | Ascend Ampitheater

Rentals | M&M Event Rentals

Caterer | Copper Kettle

Beauty | The Blowout Co.

Dress Store | The White Room

From the photographer, Ashley of Smash Studios Photography: Meredith and Eric met online and began dating long distance in 2014. Eric moved to Nashville later that year, and they fell in love (he told her first loved her on the Pedestrian Bridge)! Eric sends Meredith a song every Friday on Spotify, and last September, Meredith found it odd that she hadn't received hers yet. After a dinner at Eastland Cafe, Eric told her to check her phone, and he had sent "It Had to Be You" from Meredith's favorite move, When Harry Met Sally. He then asked Meredith to marry him with a diamond passed down through his family.

Meredith and Eric had the FIRST EVER wedding at Ascend Ampitheater this past April, and the weather was perfect. Meredith got ready at Blowout in the Gulch, and she and Eric had their first look on the stage at Ascend. They incorporated tons of personal touches into their day-- photos with their dog, Lois Lane, Meredith's grandmother's handkerchief around her bouquet (which was made by a friend), and Eric's sister was the officiant! They also incorporated their favorite city, Nashville! They took photos around the Ampitheater, made the place cards in the shape of the skyline, and Eric even sketched the skyline HIMSELF for the save the dates, and had the sketch displayed on the screens in the room. They honeymooned in London, so it was only fitting that their getaway car was a hansom cab!

Thanks so much for sharing this beautiful wedding with us, Ashley! You can check out more of Smash Studio Photography's work here on her website and also be sure to follow her on Instagram!

The Grand Re-Opening of the Sheraton Grand in Downtown Nashville

Tuesday, May 30, 2017

Oh what a night! Last month I had the privilege of attending the Grand Re-Opening of the Sheraton Downtown - now the Sheraton Grand Downtown Nashville! The Sheraton has been a staple in Nashville's skyline for many many years and now it's taking the Grand title. But what does that mean? There are only five Sheraton Grand Hotels in the United States and Nashville is proud to be the home of the 5th! With an extensive $35 million renovation, The Sheraton Grand now boasts the Skye Event Suite - an "in the round" event space with 360 degree views of the Nashville skyline at 28 stories high! Plus, the hotel's emmaculate modern, clean and geometric lobby, ballroom and bar area are all sights to see! It's pretty much had a makeover from head to toe! Keep reading to find out more about my time at the grand opening...

The night started off with a media reception in the Skye suite where the presentation of the Sheraton Grand plaque was presented to officials at the hotel! My guest Lindsy of Music City Events and I were oohing and ahhing over all the gorgeous modern details - from the black and gold cushioned barstools to the extravagant linens and table scapes the hotel event professionals designed for the big night. The views of the city were breathtaking and we even had to stop to take a boomerang of the amazing live jellyfish display!

If that wasn't enough, we all made our way down to the main ballroom where the party was like nothing else I've ever seen! Beautiful couches and lounge seating was everywhere to be seen with a dance floor, with custom designed draping and lighting. Someone with food and drinks were everywhere ou turned and the service staff made it so every guest felt individually cared for. A DJ spun some great tunes and in between sets, aerial artists, dancers and even a magician performed to create an upscale Vegas-like atmosphere for the crowd. I was blown away by the thought and hard work that was put into this event - it was definitely not one of your run of the mill networking events! The Sheraton staff definitely knows how to throw a party!

And for the final bit of entertainment for the night? Earth Wind & Fire performed some of their greatest hits for the crowd! What an incredible show! I don't know what I was expecting coming into this event, but I was blown away by the hospitality, design and entertainment of the night. The Sheraton Grand is an awesome choice to host your wedding with so many photo ops and design elements that your guests will enjoy! Want to learn more about The Sheraton Grand? Elizabeth + Casey’s Glamorous Wedding in the Woods by Chad Erickson Photography

Friday, May 19, 2017

Geometric shapes, geodes + jewel tones are all the rage which is why I'm SO excited to share Elizabeth + Casey's wedding with you today! Devon of Meet Cute Event Planning helped design the couple's day to fit their modern aesthetic into a woodsy setting. And adding a little sparkle never hurt anyone! :) I am in awe of Elizabeth + Casey's DIY geometric installations hanging from the ceiling and next to their sweetheart table! Can I just have some for my house? Their love showed through in every moment captured by photographer Chad Erickson. And their adventurous spirit was so beautifully displayed when they suggested to stand on a cliff for a wedding photo! Check out all their photos below as well as exerpts from Chad about what it felt like to photograph this beautiful day...

Tell us about Elizabeth + Casey!

Chad: The couple were best friends before they started dating. They met at a camp after a time apart and started up a romantic relationship. As camp was a big part of their story, they decided on an outdoor wedding at a state park they loved.

Tell us about their vision!

Chad: Devon of Meet Cute Event Planning described the wedding as a "glamorous wedding in the woods". They wanted to keep it intimate with a heavy focus on the natural surroundings.

What was their theme and what inspired it?

Chad: Devon's idea was to use a variety of metals and geometric shapes and themes to bring a bit of sparkle to the golden Tennessee fall atmosphere. "A night to shine for this couple who brighten each other's lives and all those around them!".

What details were used to create the theme?

Chad: Devon used geodes as her main inspiration for color and theme. The groom, Casey, spent weeks in advance building the wooden cube and geometric shapes that were used as table decorations as well as the giant hanging art installation that hung above the cake.

Can you share any special moments or highlights of their wedding day?

Chad: I knew they were an adventurous couple, but I didn't realize how much until they told me they wanted to walk out onto the ledge of a cliff and take pictures. It wasn't super high, but the small size of the ledge combined with the tremendous size of the dress and the fall leaves had me sweating a bit. But they made it with no problems, and we got some great portraits of them.

Did they have any special requests or unique challenges that you had to work together to overcome?

Chad: Everything went off without a hitch as far as I can remember. Mostly due to an extraordinary amount of planning and an overall laid back attitude.

Thank you so much for sharing Elizabeth + Casey's wedding with us, Chad! You can find more of Chad Erickson's work here on his website and also be sure to follow him on Instagram!

Earthy tones and warm hues bring out the best in the boho look! From carefully detailed invitations with a raw edge to the garden-like flower crown, this styled shoot by Abigail Bridges Photography is giving us that exact vibe! And although this cabin-y styled shoot took place this past winter, I think it can still translate for the summer season - cabin and all! The lattice chairs and the off-the-shoulder wedding gown are totally giving off 70s vibes and I mean c'mon, how crazy gorgeous is this couple!? Keep scrolling to see the entire cabin boho look and read about Abigail's inspiration for this beautiful shoot!

Makeup Artist | Taylor Made Beauty

Hair Stylist | The Finery Salon & Day Spa

Floral Designer | Gunnels Florist

Event Planner | Katie Hall Events & Design

Invitation Designer | Well Written Co.

Venue | Private Residence

From the photographer, Abigail Bridges: Dreamy flowers and a cozy cabin make any winter day much less dreary. This styled shoot was something that we thought would be a great way to kick the winter blues away. And it certainly did! We chose a homey little cabin that added warmth and style as the location. We wanted the flowers to be a statement piece, but also chose to add a variety of texture for depth. We went with fabrics that offered nuances in texture and neutral undertones and some earthy details as well. A simple bohemian wedding gown and classy tux were the looks we chose for our models, Mike and Holly. Cascading hair and a soft lip and eye made this look perfectly boho. We loved the bright florals paired with simple and earthy textures to pull off this dreamy bohemian look.

Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful work with us, Abigail! You can check out more on Abigail Bridges Photography here on her website and be sure to give her a follow over on Instagram here!
