From the designer, Paige Brown: I daydream all of the time. There is so much beauty and creativity that lives within our imagination. It's there where anything is possible. I had a vision of a beautiful woman walking through an enchanted garden in a gorgeous silk gown at her flawlessly beautiful mansion. I took that vision and created an entire narrative around it.

I truly believe every woman deserves a fairytale experience at least once in their lifetime. ESPECIALLY on their wedding day. That's what Paige Brown Designs is all about... The magic and beauty of making fairytale wedding wishes a reality.

This couture shoot was inspired by Vogue and all things fabulous.

Kristen + Paul’s Gaelic Love in the Wedding Woods in Nashville by Smash Studios

Friday, March 17, 2017

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Today we have a wedding that pairs so well with the theme - a Gaelic wedding! Ashley from Smash Studios Photography shared Kristen + Paul's wedding in the woods with us and there's greenery galore! The rainy day encompassed the theme perfectly and Kristen's headpiece was a relek straight from Ireland. The Gaelic emblems around Paul's ring and each green detail added all the more meaning to the couple's love for the outdoors. And can we just talk about Paul's vintage car, The Thing? It provided such a fun element to their day and showed off more of their personality to their 95 guests. Check out all the photos from Kristen + Paul's wedding below!

Who helped coordinate your wedding?

Kristen: Our wedding team was our family and friends. Special thanks to the Newby clan and my parents David and Pam Edds for braving the rain and being willing to travel to Lebanon to see this vision come to life. My bridesmaids Katherine Neil, Kim DeRoche, and Ella DeRoche for helping with set up as well as keeping a bride calm. Our friends Jake and Gena Johnson did a miracle job of cleaning up and breaking down to get trailers reloaded. My coordinator/best friend and behind the scenes goddess Emily Brown helped keep the decor and timeline on track as well as organizing vendors.

Tell us about your engagement!

Kristen: Paul and I had been together for 5 years when we took an annual vacation to Edisto Beach with his family. He popped the question on the beach at sunset. When we got back to the house his mother had champagne waiting. We worked hard for the next year and a half to get a simple yet magical wedding together.

What was the vision for your wedding?

Kristen: Our goal was to showcase the natural beauty of the location and our love for the magic the woods holds for us. Paul and I love the outdoors and this venue is brilliant with life. To tie our structures to the outdoors we used rustic pieces rented from Sister's Vintage Rentals as well as whimsical decor to create a fairy woodlands/ Midsummer Nights Dream theme. With help from our families and some very dedicated friends we achieved our goal and then some.

Can you share any special moments or highlights from your wedding day?

Kristen: The entire day was a highlight! We laughed and danced. My face was sore from smiling so much.

What are some tips you can share with other brides planning their weddings?

Kristen: Plan ahead. No detail is too small so never assume. Communication is absolutely key to seeing your vision come to life. No matter how close someone is to you they can't read your mind. Communication also helps keep stress levels down. Also invest in radios for easy communication between the coordinator, groom, bride, and photographer!

From the photographer Ashley of Smash Studios Photography: Kristen and Paul were married at The Weddings Woods at Circle S Farms in Lebanon, TN-- right outside of Nashville. The day was rainy and cloudy, just like Ireland, where Kristen and Paul took much of their wedding inspiration from. Kristen wore a circlet around her head instead of a traditional veil, which was handcrafted and brought over from Ireland. Similarly, Paul's wedding ring featured Gaelic knots around the band, and the venue exuded Irish influence-- the ceremony location was straight out of a fairytale. During the ceremony, Kristen and Paul chose to forego the typical sand or unity candle ceremonies and instead unified their marriage with the planting of a new tree. With a break in the rain, we managed to take beautiful photos on the decorated wooden swing on the property, as well as with Paul's vintage car (The Thing), which was decorated for their glowstick getaway at the end of the night!

Thank you so much for sharing Kristen + Paul's wedding with us, Ashley! You can check out more of Ashley from Smash Studio Photography's work here on her website. And be sure to follow her on Instagram here. Happy St. Paddy's day everyone - enjoy your weekend!

Tell us how you met!

Jacob: Amy and I met at a local public high school, where we both work! Amy is a school counselor, and I was an English teacher. We worked together regularly to support struggling students and to help them prepare for college and career. Mixed in with conversations about students, Amy and I often talked about the perils of dating, family drama, and all of the other things that best friends share. During one of those conversations, Amy asked me if I would write an online dating profile for her, and I agreed. But, before I allowed her to post it for all of Nashville to see, I asked her to go out with me just once. To give it a shot. And then she could start dating online. Long story short, Amy was hooked after dinner at The Pharmacy, tickets to a Preds game, and a brew at Flying Saucer. She never did post that profile!

Tell us about the vision for your wedding!

Jacob: Our vision for our wedding was directly inspired by The Cordelle. After seeing countless venues, The Cordelle exuded all of the things that we love about our own home, our own neighborhood, and our own lives. It was unpretentious, warm, and open with the charm of history and a dash of modern, sleek design. The venue, like our wedding, was simple and lacked many frills; instead of focusing on flowers, decorations, cakes, and stationery, we elected to devote our time and budget to providing tasty food (a delicious selection of tacos from Flavor Caters), a generous selection of libations (beer, wine, and signature cocktails), and music that rocked the house (The Remedies absolutely killed it!). The venue space itself and a little seating pretty much covered all of the rest. One other thing that we agreed was a must-have was: time together. All too often the bride and groom say their vows and then get sucked into endless separate circles of conversations; instead, we wanted to be together for the whole evening. So, immediately after the ceremony, we escaped to the loft and closed the door; Ashley from Posh Occasions, as if on cue, knocked on the door a minute or two later and brought tacos and cocktails to us so that we had the necessary fuel to dance all night! She knew exactly what we needed! And, eating dinner together allowed us to step out on the right foot, wholly focused on the love between each other while surrounded by the love of others.

Can you share any special moments or highlights of their wedding day?

Ashley of Posh Occasions: The bride and groom were so thoughtful and caring to make their grandmothers a special part of their day. They both wanted a special moment before the ceremony, after their first look, to surprise the groom's grandmother who was unable to attend and FaceTime her. They also wanted to do something special for the brides grandmother. During the reception, the brides grandmother wanted horns to be played so they improvised and had the band's saxophone player serenade her with a solo. It was such a sweet moment with family all around dancing with her, tears were flowing everywhere.

We'd like to send a big thank you to Ashley of Posh Occasions for sharing Amy + Jacob's wedding with us! She definitely delivered with her coordination that day and helped make another bride + groom happy + stress-free on their wedding day! You can check out more of Ashley's weddings and services on her website here. Or check out Posh Occasions on Instagram here! Happy planning!

Julianne + Spencer’s Timeless Tennessee Wedding at Carnton Plantation

Friday, January 13, 2017

Oh the sweet timeless sophistication that is found in Nashville's historical homes... it calls for a wedding that embraces all of the elements of the days of old to the days of new! And when the rest has been history since 8th grade (yes, they've actually been dating since 8th + 9th grade!), Julianne + Spencer's Carnton Plantation wedding in Franklin, TN was definitely one for the books! And Julianne was not afraid of adding a little color in her decor (we love a bride who loves color!). With the coral, gray and navy hues spread throughout the historical property, Julianne + Spencer's day kept that southern charm along with vintage furniture from Southern Events. Justin Wright Photography captured each moment from the first look to the golden sunset. Hear what Julianne has to say about planning her Nashville area wedding...

How did you guys meet?

Julianne: We met at Davidson Academy, I was in eighth grade and Spencer was in ninth. We were in the same math class then, and Spencer asked me to be his girlfriend later that year. We graduated from DA and went to both UT Knoxville. We've been dating ever since that math class!

Tell us about your engagement!

Julianne: Spencer surprised me at the beach, while on a family vacation. We were on the beach walking to dinner, which was right down the road, and Spencer was standing further down the beach and waiting for my friend and I to arrive. He was holding a sign saying, " today I have loved you for 2,751 days". I was in such shock when he proposed, I almost couldn't process what was happening! Last I had heard, Spencer was "leaving work"- when really he had spent the day on the beach just down from us! It was the most perfect moment with the love of my life and our family and friends watching from the restaurant dock over the beach.

What was the vision for your wedding?

Julianne: I wanted something timeless, but also fun and not too dressy. I've always wanted an outdoor summer wedding, so that part was easy. Other than that, after we picked the venue- it all kind of fell into place. We had grey and navy as our main colors, with little splashes of pink in the flowers. My bridesmaids wore long, light grey dresses and Spencer's groomsmen wore charcoal suits.

What details were used to create your theme?

Julianne: Honestly- I did a lot of "pinteresting" before hand. I don't wear a lot of bright colors, and I knew I didn't want to use anything that I might hate in 5 years looking back. We had white, grey and light pink flowers in the decor and in the bouquets we added little bright pink flowers to make it pop against the grey dresses and charcoal suits. We had the same colors and details used on the tables.

Can you share any special moments or highlights from your wedding day?

Julianne: There were too many "favorite" moments to pick just one but one of my favorite things was having about 20 minutes to go to the bridal suite with Spencer before we made our debut as husband and wife at the reception. We sat in there and discussed the ceremony, who we had seen so far, and how we were looking forward to dancing the night away with our friends and family. It was great to have those special moments just us two before we spent the night entertaining almost 400 people! I also loved right before I walked down the aisle, my bridesmaids and parents circled up and one of my bridesmaids prayed over the day and the ceremony, and it was one of the most touching moments of the day. We're so blessed by such sweet friends. Finally, we had so much fun on the dance floor with all of our favorite people celebrating our favorite day with us! Our band, Johnny and the Loveseats, were absolutely perfect and had everyone on their feet all night!

What are some tips you can share with other brides planning their weddings?

Julianne: Don't stress the little things. I remember spending an hour (or more) debating between little parts of the wedding that no one even noticed! As long as you create an atmosphere that you and your groom love, not much else truly matters. My friends and family were the most complimentary of the food and band - and probably didn't even notice the napkin color or choice of silverware! Take a moment to take it all in - when you blink it's over!

Thank you so much for sharing your special day with us, Julianne + Spencer!
