The cookie dough trend is alive and well! It's been on the scene in places like New York and California and it's made it's way to Nashville! And what's so much fun is that local Nashville area caterer Chef's Market is bringing this trend to Nashville weddings! With a variety of options to choose from, Chef's Market is here to tell us all about incorporating this trend into your wedding. The best part is that it's egg-free (and still tastes delicious!). I'll leave it to Hayley to tell us all about it below...

What to Expect at Your Wedding Catering Tasting with Two Fat Men Catering

When booking your wedding caterer, it's something you need to physically be present to do - to taste the food and meet with the team! But what are the steps in booking your wedding tasting? We chatted with Debbie Valentine of Two Fat Men Catering and asked her about all the ins and outs of what happens at your wedding tasting. What information will you need to know prior to booking your tasting? And what can you expect during the tasting? I'll leave the rest to Debbie - she'll fill us in on everything you need to know! Use this as a resource for booking your catering tastings!

It's time to try the food at Two Fat Men! What are your hours to book an appointment?

Debbie: We typically like to do tastings Tuesday - Thursday between 12-6pm as the weekends tend to be busy with events. However, we will always make exceptions!

Hooray - we booked our appointment! How long should we allow for the tasting and what information do you need from us?

Debbie: Tastings usually last an hour and a half to two hours depending on how many folks come with our couple. We like to have a preliminary proposal in place before the tasting.This includes the couples names, date, venue, some preliminary ideas of food and how many guest they are expecting.

Do we need to decide buffet, sit down meal, or passed appetizers before we make our appointment?

Debbie: Not necessary but having a general idea is a good help!

What will be served at the tasting? Is it a full meal or bites of your "best of" menu?

Debbie: Chef Ed tends to go overboard when it comes to tastings! He serves up "small" portions of what the couple would like to try and then adds his own spin on what he thinks will work with the menu! I always tell our couples to come hungry! They will normally get hors d'oeuvres as well as entrees and sides .

Tell us more about the process once we sit down and meet for the tasting.

Debbie: We start by getting drinks and making sure everyone is comfy and ready for a food experience! We bring out the platters with their choices on them, give a quick explanation of what each item is, and we let them eat! We will check back periodically to make sure there are no questions or nothing is needed. Once they have tried all of the food we bring out the big guns and Chef Ed comes to the table to talk food! At this point we have brought out some of our homemade ice cream samples for our couple to try. Chef usually has us running around bringing out more food options that he feels the couple would like and we wrap it up after they feel comfortable with what they have tasted and have a good idea of what they want to serve!

How far out from our wedding do we need to book Two Fat Men?

Debbie: 6 months to a year. We sell out a few times a year so it's best to be safe!

We have food allergies - are you able to accommodate?

Debbie: Absolutely! However, if it is a deadly allergy I remind folks that we are a working kitchen and cross contamination can happen mistakenly.

What else will we need to know for our tasting?

Debbie: You should come hungry! We charge a $25.00 per person fee but we will credit their account if they book with us!

Join Dream Events & Catering’s Summer of 25 Dreams - A Community Outreach

Dream Events & Catering is turning 25 this summer! There's so much to celebrate with this Nashville staple in the wedding catering business. Owner Becki Annastas and her team have launched the Summer of 25 Dreams to celebrate in a different way - by giving back to the community. She and her team will be "committing acts of dreaminess" all across Middle Tennessee - from feeding, empowering and supporting those around us. Keep reading to find out more about how Becki + her team at Dream Events & Catering is impacting our community this summer...

How did this idea begin? The kick off was during Nashville's Big Payback in early May and the 25 Dreams will continue through Labor Day. Organizations that Dream will be supporting are Next Door, Nashville Diaper Connection, Safe Room, Little Lady Big Cause, and Compost Nashville. Dream has already donated more than 2000 items for a donation drive and clocked nearly 100 hours of community service. This is so inspiring! 

The cool part about this campaign is that you have a chance to be involved! You can donate to their Dream Donation Drive and also spread the word through social media using the hashtag #Summerof25Dreams.

Cabbage Salad Recipe for Brides on the Go from A Happy Healthy Heart

Hey girl! I am so excited to share this guest post with you today from food blogger Melissa Haithcock with A Happy Healthy Heart! Melissa was kind enough to share her cabbage salad recipe with us since it's the perfect healthy lunch for the on-the-go bride! Hopping from appointment to appointment on your lunch break and after work gets hectic - and finding time to eat healthy in hopes to look your best on your wedding day isn't always the easiest! But this cabbage salad recipe is one that will put these worries to rest. The delicious + fresh ingredients are sure to give your tastebuds a treat! Without further ado, I'll let Melissa share her story + recipe with y'all! 


Melissa from A Happy Healthy Heart: I haven’t always loved vegetables and when I first started experimenting with recipes that included them I had to make myself want to eat them. For me, this meant they had to be pretty! Our eyes are drawn to attractive things so I figured that if the food looked good then it must taste good too! I have now learned that the prettier the food, the better it is for you because the color comes from the nutrients within it. 


On Sundays, my mom would steam cabbage before church so that it would be ready for lunch later that afternoon. I remember waking up to the smell of it and thinking it was awful! The scent would drift into my room just as I was opening my eyes and because I didn’t like the way it smelled, I never ate it. I didn’t eat cabbage until a couple of years ago but now I absolutely love it; especially red cabbage.


I love combining all kinds of fresh vegetables into one bowl to make a complete meal. This dish is just that. The quinoa offers protein, the vegetables are full of nutrients and the peanut butter sauce is a source of good fat. If you like, you can always substitute almond butter in the sauce. It’s just a matter of preference. 


If you have an extra 20 minutes this week, make this nutrient-dense salad and let me know what you think. Wiley (my husband) absolutely loves it and I’m always happy to make it. Enjoy!



¼ head red cabbage, thinly sliced

¼ head green cabbage, thinly sliced

1 head broccoli, chopped

5 mini bell peppers, sliced

½ sweet onion, minced

2 carrots, peeled and shredded

1 ¼ cup quinoa

¼ cup vegetable broth

handful of cilantro 


2 tbsp peanut butter

2 tbsp tamari (or sub liquid aminos)

1 tsp chili flakes

1 tbsp olive oil

salt and pepper to taste


Once all vegetables are chopped, combine all sauce ingredients in a small bowl, mix until well incorporated and set aside. 

Cook quinoa according to package instructions.

In a large saucepan heated to medium heat, cook vegetable broth, onions, broccoli and peppers together. The vegetable broth should simmer and absorb into the vegetables. Allow to cook for 7-8 minutes.

In a large bowl combine quinoa, cabbage, carrots, cooked vegetables, and sauce. Mix well and until sauce has covered all ingredients. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Serve warm or cold. Store in air tight container for up to a week.
