A Recap of Spring Bridal Fashion Week in New York from Ninth & Everett

Thursday, May 4, 2017

It happens twice a year and brides and wedding industry vets wait in anticipation to see what each wedding dress designer will send down the runway at New York Bridal Fashion Week! I know a lot of Nashville wedding professionals made their way out to New York for the big show, and we were fortunate enough to speak with wedding planners & designers Ninth & Everett about their experience at the show! Josiah + Blake experienced the Kelly Faetanini + Lela Rose runway shows firsthand! We sat down with Josiah to talk about 3 of the latest trends for the upcoming bridal season!

1) Color

According to Josiah, many of the dress designers decided to forego the traditional white and ivory for a pop of color this season! The most prominent color incorporated into gowns this year was black. And we’re not talking about adding a simple black sash or small beaded black details… Kelly Faetanini decided to incorporate an all black ostrich feather skirt into her signature full A-line feathered look. Josiah also noticed black sheath slips underneath sheer white dresses to give a moody peek of black for an all-over look. Mixing the traditional white with black was also a trend - white bodices with black skirts and the reverse. So incredibly chic and modern!

2) Mermaid No More

Out of all the silhouettes that walked the runway this year, Josiah says Mermaid dresses were few and far between. The fitted look with dramatic poofs starting at the knee were not to be found, but A-line and sheath dresses were ruling the runways last week in NYC! Instead, we’re seeing more out of the box dresses and unique silhouettes.

3) Pant Suits & Jumpsuits

Designers were escaping tradition and feeling the liberty to design outside of the box. Josiah mentioned that jumpsuits and pant suits were prominent silhouettes walking the catwalk. More and more designers are accommodating tastes for all marriages and women who may feel uncomfortable in a traditional ball gown dress. This off-beat trend is alive and well - and some designers like Lela Rose styled overcoats over the dresses and jumpsuits to freshen up this fun new trend!

All in all, Josiah says the new tradition is to be NOT traditional. We LOVE this here at NBG and are excited to see more untraditional wedding dresses incorporated into Nashville weddings!

Travel Elopement Inspiration in Nashville by The Ganeys

Monday, April 24, 2017

This one is for the adventurous couple! The couple that loves a pop of color. The couple that loves to travel. And the couple that is romantic at heart. This elopement styled shoot in the woods cuated by travel wedding photographers The Ganey's is everything a spontaneous Nashville couple would want in a wedding! With all of Nashville's woodsy paths and hills, it's the perfect place if you're looking to get married somewhere quiet and intimate. And it makes for some gorgeous photos! The real couple Brad + Morgan are travelers themselves and have lived life together and apart across the pond and beyond! With travel themed details from some pretty incredible wedding professionals and Etsy sellers, the scene was filled with personality beneath a beautiful wooded setting. Check out all of the photos below and learn more about the inspiration from Emily of The Ganey's below!

From the photographer Emily of The Ganeys: The love story between Brad and Morgan is straight out of a fairy tale. They first met about a decade ago in a youth choir at a local church. At that time in their lives, their age gap kept them apart, but it was clear there was interest in one another.

Several years later, after Brad had graduated from college, they went on a date and were inseparable. Over the course of their relationship, they endured a good amount of long distance. Brad spent time in England, pursuing his Master’s degree and Morgan decided to join him across the pond and study abroad for her senior year of college.

During this time, they explored numerous countries in eastern and western Europe – tasting new foods, exploring new cultures, even hanging out with camels. Their adventures didn’t stop there. They spent their three year anniversary climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. Their love of travel and exploration was the inspiration for this elopement shoot.

I envisioned a couple that decided to skip the big party and all of the extras, in exchange for adventure. A couple that values natural surroundings as opposed to confined rooms. A couple that knows that adventure is out there, and wants to share new experiences together.

I was fortunate enough to come across Abby & Luke’s shop on Etsy – Wayfaren Co. Their pieces were the perfect element to complete the rest of the story. Morgan and Brad read their vows from their travel journals – journals that would be filled with words from their honeymoon and journeys throughout the years. After the ceremony, they pinned their travel map – with their past destinations, and the locations they were dreaming of exploring together.

Morgan wore an ethereal Watters gown from BHLDN and carried a jaw-dropping bouquet created by Elizabeth Earnest Florals. She wore a delicate RomanticARTLife floral hair piece to complete the look of her hair and makeup done by Nicole Pechonis.

This shoot was a dream, and the love between these two is absolutely contagious. I know their life, and travel journals, will be filled to the brim with adventure and love.

Thanks so much for sharing this gorgeous shoot with us, Emily! You can check out more of The Ganey's work on their website here and also on their Instagram page here

Moody romance is a great theme for your Nashville wedding! Mixing light neutrals and pastels with pops of dark shades is how Ashley Steffens Photography created the beautiful scene at Riverwood Mansion. The blush spray rose flower crown atop the bride's curly locks, her dark lipstick shade and the sequins on the untraditional yet elegant dress give her look lots of dimension. And all of the brushed teal walls, antique funiture and gorgeous mantles of the historical home give the setting all the more intrigue! Take a look at all of Ashley's photos and read more below about the shoot through her lens...

Venue | Riverwood Mansion

Dress | RCB Fashion

Flowers | Jackson Blume Studio

From the photographer, Ashley of Ashley Steffens Photography: After visiting the venue for the first time, I knew I wanted the look of this styled shoot to be ethereal & elegant, just like Riverwood Mansion. From the second I walked in the door I felt like I was in an old romantic movie, so that is how I wanted to shoot to feel! This styled shoot was inspired by the romance of Riverwood Mansion. When I originally saw the space, I knew the bright teal walls and window lighting had the potential to be one of the most stunning settings I have shot in. The fireplace lent itself to a romantic candlelit setting and neutral complimentary tones. Neutral tones were used to create an "Old Romance" feel.  We told the florist to create something elegant and neutral in order to create a sophisticated, beautiful scene. It couldn't have gone any better!

Thank you for sharing your beautiful photos with us, Ashley! You can check out more of Ashley Steffen's work here on her website and also here on her Instagram page. Thanks, girl!

On March 29th, Nashville Bride Guide had the privilege of featuring "Greenery Wedding Trends" on NBC's Today in Nashville! With a fresh new table scape featuring products from some of Nashville's most sought-after wedding professionals, I swept over to the WSMV studios to show Nashville some spring wedding trends. Ways to Incorporate Greenery Into Your Wedding

Florals/Greenery | T Villager Designs

Invitation/Menus/Placecards | Paperkuts Studio

Vintage Place Settings | The Wedding Plate

Linens/Table/Chairs | Liberty Party Rental

When incorporating green into your wedding, you'll want to be sure to bring in touches of green. You won't want your table to look like St. Patty's day gone wrong! The key is to start with a neutral base like these ivory majestic linens + hemstitch napkins like these from Liberty Party Rental. Next, bring in some hints of green with mismatched vintage china like this set from The Wedding Plate. It's huge this wedding season and using green vintage goblets are so on trend! Giving your guests a hint of green with your wedding invitations and then incorporating similar designs throughout all your wedding signage + paper products is a greay way to show off the trend. Paperkuts Studio can definitely help you with this! And lastly, ask your florist to use greenery in your centerpiece! This is the most fun way to utilize the pantone color trend this spring and even adding in sprigs of cream florals for some dimension and interest (like this centerpiece from T Villager Designs!) is sure to give your guests a wow-factor!

Thanks again to all of the wedding professionals who helped pull this together to make one incredible greenery table scape! I highly recommend these vendors for your Nashville wedding! And thanks again to WSMV for inviting Nashville Bride Guide to come on the show to share some tips!

From the photographer, Abigail Bridges: Dreamy flowers and a cozy cabin make any winter day much less dreary. This styled shoot was something that we thought would be a great way to kick the winter blues away. And it certainly did! We chose a homey little cabin that added warmth and style as the location. We wanted the flowers to be a statement piece, but also chose to add a variety of texture for depth. We went with fabrics that offered nuances in texture and neutral undertones and some earthy details as well. A simple bohemian wedding gown and classy tux were the looks we chose for our models, Mike and Holly. Cascading hair and a soft lip and eye made this look perfectly boho. We loved the bright florals paired with simple and earthy textures to pull off this dreamy bohemian look.
