An Edgy, Elegant, Moody Styled Shoot by Elizabeth Looney Photography

Wednesday, July 19, 2017

Black wedding dress, black airbrushed cake, antler centerpiece, leather jackets... this one is for the unconventional bride! Although the season is bright and summery, we're looking forward to Fall - (especially since we're featuring Fall wedding dresses on Today in Nashville today!). So dark and moody it is! This shoot really caught my eye on Instagram and I asked Elizabeth Looney Photography if she could share it with us on the blog! I'm loving the combination of dark colors mixed with subtle pops of pastel pinks and purples - Southern Sparkle Events did such an incredible job with the styling and overall look! Keep scrolling to see more of this shoot below and hear from the photographer Elizabeth about what it was like on set!

What was the theme of the styled shoot and what inspired it?

Elizabeth: "Edgy elegance". The “little black dress" had always been a statement of class and elegance - so why not a black wedding dress? Mountains and caves and even a black veil we made added to our inspiration.

What details were used to create the theme?

Elizabeth: The farm table included a long and draping black runner. The table was adorned with vintage candelabras, thrift store china, gold stemware and black napkins to complete the look. The florals were chosen to have a combination of sophistication but also have a wild carefree look to them. Her bouquet included the delicate hellebore flowers and fern tree foliage, but also flowers that were not so delicate with the scabies pods. An ode to the “groom” and his career in the music industry, the statement making cake from Puffy Muffin, sat on top of a vintage record player. For the ceremony, we decided to let the gorgeous background and the couple be the focal point and kept it simple with an abundance of candles.

Were there any special requests or unique challenges that you had to work together to overcome?

Elizabeth: The only challenges were really just the cold. Typical Tennessee weather where it was 60 and spring like a few days before and freezing cold the day of the photo shoot! And the hike to the top. But seeing that view made the hike so worth it!

Thank you so much for sharing this shoot with us Elizabeth! You can check out more of Elizabeth Looney Photography's work here on her website and also here on Instagram!

Nashville 4th of July Styled Shoot by Elle Event Style at Arrington Vineyards

Monday, July 3, 2017

I'm sure you've already had a great weekend of celebration for our country, but today I'm sharing even more red white and blue inspiration! When Leah of Elle Event Style and I met last week, she showed me photos of her recent styled shoot with Erin Allender Photography and some amazing vendors and I knew it would be the perfect fit for the 4th! Usually the 4th of July calls for paper plates and backyard barbecues, but Leah decided to dress it up and create a beautiful 4th of July table scape. From alternating striped and solid placemats to custom made macaroons from Baked in Nashville, Leah created a casual yet classy way to do 4th of July in perfect Elle Event Style! Check out the cute and unique look at Arrington Vineyards and see what Leah has to say about the rainy shoot day!

Paper Products | Darby Cards

Macaroons | Baked in Nashville

Tell us about the shoot vision!

Leah:I love hosting my family and friends for holiday parties! For all of my parties I always make sure that I set it up just as I would for any event that I design so that my family and friends feel just as loved. When I think of 4th of July I think of red, white, blue, paper plates and sparklers. At my house, 4th of July is all about being outside and grilling out.

What details were used to create the theme?

Leah: Would you believe that these aren't paper plates?! They are melamine plates to look like the classic paper plate. These are a great sturdy option over paper plates and they can be washed a reused. I love creating a fabulous beverage for my guests to enjoy. For the 4th I made a blueberry infused water and a strawberry white wine sangria that play off of the red, white, and blue color scheme. And if your going to drink a delicious beverage, you might as well drink it out of a fabulous American flag straw. You also can't let your guests go without something sweet. These custom 4th of July macaroons are the perfect treat for guests of all ages.

Were there any special requests or unique challenges that you had to work together to overcome?

Leah: On the day of the style shoot, it poured outside. However, if it rains on the 4th I am still going to have my family and friends over to enjoy the celebration -- so don't throw your amazing decorations and party design away, get creative and bring it inside.

Thank you so much for sharing this fun shoot with us, Leah! You can check out more of Elle Event Style's work here on her website and also here on Instagram! Happy 4th!

Sequin Wedding Linens + Bridesmaid Dresses with Bella Bridesmaids + Over the Top Linens

Thursday, June 29, 2017

Although it's summer, I know a lot of you are in go-mode for planning your fall or winter wedding! So even though I have some fun summer inspiration waiting for you just around the corner, I've decided to add a little glitz and glam to your Thursday - today is all about sequins! We have a dream team collaboration between Bella Bridesmaids + Over the Top Linen Rentals featuring everything sequin! Sequins are best used to give that extra glitz and glam to your wedding and make certain design elements of your wedding stand out. Whether it's glamming up all your bridesmaids in a sequin number, or mixing and matching sequin with tulle... or highlighting your sweetheart table with a sequin linen or glamming up all the tables with sequin coverings, your wedding is sure to wow!

When color schemes that include Dusty Rose, Millennial Pink, and Blush are all the rage in weddings as of late, why not jazz it up with some sparkle? Over the Top carries some incredible linen - their selection is off the charts and you'll be sure to find what you're looking for. You can order their linens through your wedding planner or through your local rental company and they should have some samples in stock to show you. Over the Top even has some sequin linen that emulates tree branches or irridescent linens that will catch the light in your venue! As for your bridesmaid dresses? Throw on a faux mink coat over the sparkle to give some extra texture! The key to this sequin trend is to not go overboard on the sparkle - incorporate soft touches of the trend to keep your wedding shining magically - not blinding your guests!

Bridesmaid dress designers like Adrianna Papell, Theia Bridesmaids, and Watters are all great places to start when searching for sequin gowns. Bella Bridesmaids in Green Hills carries only bridesmaid dresses and they have the absolute best selection in town! Adding pops of sequins into your bridesmaid attire as in the photo below is a great choice. Dress your Maid of Honor or sister in an all over sequin look and have the rest of your 'maids don a mix of sequin and chiffon.

Looking for more sequin linen and bridesmaid dress inspiration? Check out Bella Bridesmaids website here and also Over the Top here! Cheers!

An Old Fashioned Sweetheart Styled Shoot at Gray’s on Main by Amy Allmand

Monday, June 26, 2017

Simple, sweet and old-timey is such a fun theme for a styled shoot - and downtown Franklin is the perfect place to host a shoot like this! Photographer Amy Allmand and her styled shoot team created a romantic scene around the couple Natalie + Hayden at Franklin's historic restaurant Gray's on Main. I love how their concept can be interpreted in many different ways - it's not quite an engagement, elopement or anniversary shoot - it's simply a sweet couple who wanted to get dressed up for a night on the town - no matter what the occasion! Natalie's vintage-inspired 50's style dress and Hayden's classic suit set the scene for images that could have been taken today or 50+ years ago! See the rest of the photos and hear more about the shoot below!

Sweetheart Styled Shoot

Gray's on Main, Franklin, TN

1.10.17

Styled Shoot Team:

Photographer | Amy Allmand Photography

Hair + Makeup | Madison Dennis of MHD Beauty

Location | Gray's on Main in Downtown Franklin

Dress | BCBG

Tell us about the shoot and who was a part of it!

Amy: I wanted to do a Valentine's theme sweetheart shoot somewhere in downtown Franklin. I collaborated with my hair & make-up artist, Madison Dennis of MHD Beauty. Madison found our models, Natalie & Hayden while I worked with Joni at Gray's for the location. She knew that I was going for an old Hollywood glamour feel. Hayden wore his own suit and Natalie wore a black & white BCBG strapless tulle dress that I personally own. She wore her own red shoes, which was requested along with lips to match.

What was the theme and what inspired it?

Amy: Valentine's, sweetheart, love, vintage. The color scheme was based around the black & white BCBG strapless tulle dress. Keeping that scheme simple we added in her red shoes and lipstick as the accent.

Can you share any special moments or highlights of the day?

Amy: Natalie & Hayden are a real couple who had never been to Franklin, so it was fun for them to see a new place. We shot at around 3pm, in between their lunch and dinner so that we had the restaurant virtually to ourselves. Gray's was so gracious to pull out some of their Valentine's decorations a bit early to add a little bit of love ambiance. She also let us shoot in their private 3rd floor room which was pretty amazing.

Were there any special requests or unique challenges that you had to work together to overcome?

Amy: Yes, unfortunately it did rain quite a bit that day. My plan was to also to shoot in front of the Franklin Theatre marquee to have a full date night styled shoot, but that was not meant to be. I still love how it turned out even without that part of the vision.

Thanks so much for sharing this warm sweetheart shoot with us, Amy! You can check out more of her work here on her website and also here on Instagram - Happy Monday!
