Seth + Hannah’s Downtown Nashville Anniversary Photo Shoot by Swak Photography

Monday, September 11, 2017

Mark those milestones! So early in the wedding planning process, we seem to capture every moment - from engagement photos to bridal portraits to your full on wedding photos. All too often we forget to capture the years past our wedding date - our anniversaries! And that's what Seth + Hannah decided to do on their lucky 7th wedding anniversary. There's no 7 year itch with this couple, you can see from their photos how their love has grown and is still on fire today! Plus, Hannah opted for a black and white jumpsuit that is everything... how sharp do they look?! Did I mention Seth is also a Nashville area wedding photographer? Check out his work here! And with a Nashville rooftop view, what more could you ask for? Oh yeah - a pink smoke bomb! Yep - photographer Carrie of Swak Photography went there and made this shoot even cooler (if that was even possible!). Check out all the couple's 7th anniversary photos below!

Wedding Traditions You Can Skip from Honeyfund

Tuesday, February 28, 2017

I am thrilled to share this post with you today! If you are a fan of Shark Tank on ABC, then you might remember couple Sara + Josh Margulis scoring a deal a few seasons back with Kevin O'Leary for their honeymoon wedding registry site - Honeyfund. Well today, we have writer for Honeyfund, Wendy Dessler sharing her expertise on wedding traditions! And we can think of one fun wedding gift tradition to break... but we'll let Wendy take it from here!

If you are planning a wedding in the Nashville, Tennessee area, you are in for some great surprises. Nashville is home to country superstars and the flavor of the area is fantastically unique. Though you can still have a traditional wedding if you want to, you will find that there are traditions that beg to be changed or skipped altogether. This event is one of the most exciting events of your life and it should represent who you are as a couple. Let’s take a look at some traditions that are easily updated.

The first step to making a wedding your own is choosing the attire. Here are a few tips of traditions to skip:

1) The bride does not have to wear white.

--White, cream, off-white, ivory are all colors traditional brides wear, but you can wear any color you love for your wedding. Grey, ink blue, peach, yellow, and shades of red are beautiful for the non-traditional bride. For a real eye-opener, try dressing the bridesmaids in cream.

2) Veils are not required.

--If you want to wear a long veil, you certainly can. But more brides are opting for hair jewelry, headbands, or hair clips for their wedding.

3) “Here comes the bride!”

--The “Bridal Chorus” has long been considered the only music a bride could march down the aisle to. But, that idea is outdated. Choose the music that makes your heart sing, or a song that reminds you of the two of you as a couple.

--Venue - getting married in a church is a beautiful tradition. But, if you are not religious, or if you just want a special venue, go for it. Nashville and the surrounding areas have beautiful venues that are perfect for a wedding of any size.

The most rewarding tradition you can change...

Wedding gifts. The mention of the words sends chills down a bride’s spine. People do not know what to buy for a couple who probably have the basics to begin married life. Going to several of the couple’s favorite stores to check the registry sounds simple, unless you have a job, family, and a life that demands much of your time. Then you find yourself the night before the wedding wondering if you should buy the $40 serving spoon, which is the only thing left on the list. Somehow the idea of the couple opening your gift and pulling out a big spoon doesn’t appeal to you. The answer is the Honeymoon Registry. Setting up a Honeymoon Registry is fast and easy and can be done from anywhere. You set up the crowdfunding site to allow guests to contribute to gifts, events, and collections that you really want. They are thrilled with the ease of the sites and the fact that they gave a great gift that did not cost them any fees. Plumfund is one of the most popular honeymoon registries available.

Here are a few things you can set up on your site:

-A night in a special hotel on your honeymoon

-A dinner at the location of your choice

-Activities you would like to experience while on your honeymoon

-Travel expenses

-Wedding expenses

-Photography expenses

Or, you may be just as non-traditional with your Honeyfund account as you are with your wedding. You may want to:

-Collect funds for a family member or friend who is ill

-Contribute to local charities

-Collect funds for the downpayment on a home

-Pay off student loans or other debts

-Remodel or add a nursery to your home

This is your special event. You can have it any way you want it. So break free of traditions and have it your way!

3 Hot Fall Honeymoon Destination Picks from 2 Travel Anywhere

Monday, October 3, 2016

There's no better local Nashville honeymoon planner than 2 Travel Anywhere! Carlie has all the scoop on new honeymoon resorts opening, the hottest new destinations and basically anything else you need to know about planning your honeymoon. So we've asked Carlie to keep us in the loop and tell us more about her top 3 picks for fall honeymoon destinations for Nashville couples. Take it away, Carlie!

1. St. Lucia

Carlie: St Lucia offers a private pool bungalow with butler service at the Sandals Grande. It is one of the only resorts on the island that has a white sand beach. Sandals Grande is all inclusive, so all food, drinks and alcohol is included. Your private pool bungalo has an outdoor shower and a wall around your pool to use as you wish. Sandals Grande offers butler service - a staff member will greet you at check in with a cell phone to call your butler for anything you wish. A major perk is that St. Lucia has 3 Sandals resorts located on different ares of the island! Plus, you get FREE shuttle transportation between all three resorts where you can dine, eat and play at all three for free all day! The 3 resorts collectively offer 27 restaurants and 21 bars all included with no tipping allowed.

If Hawaii is one of your top honeymoon options, you might actually want to consider St. Lucia. Sandals Grande in St. Lucia is an all inclusive and all adult resort with a much shorter flight from Nashville. St. Lucia has waterfalls, zip-lining, black sand beaches and more which make it very similar to Hawaii.

The island offers a variety of history and is known for the highest peak on the island called the Pitons. You see the whole island on a clear day at the top of the Piton . Like to hike? Enjoy a day of hiking to the top of the Piton. St. Lucia also has a volcano with hot springs and mud baths.

St Lucia year round is ideal. This tropical rainforest offers excellent weather year round. It's located below the hurricane belt, so it typically never had any issues with hurricanes from August through November.

2. Barbados

Carlile: The newest Sandals Destination in the Caribbean is in Barbados! It's an exotic gem that features white sand beaches. Sandals Barbados is located in the Saint Lawrence Gap on the South Coast of the island. One of the things I noticed when I traveled to this island was that it was totally different than the other Caribbean islands! You can go snorkeling with the turtles as the island has a healthy population of hawksbill and leatherback turtles. Barbados is also home to the green monkey! Sometimes the monkeys can be seen around the hotel grounds, however, they like to keep their distance from people.

From the underground caves and scenic vistas to the enchantment of swimming with the giant sea turtles, Barbados is full of fascinating pursuits! Duty-free shopping, tasty culinary delights at world-renowned restaurants, and an age-old rum distillery, all add to the charm of this lively island. If you like to snorkel, I highly recommend touring the with Island Routes to see the hawksbill turtles.

Like St Lucia this island is located outside of the hurricane belt, so year round is ideal. Barbados may get a little more rain, but the weather year round is excellent.

3. Turks & Caicos

Carlile: Turks & Caicos is located on 12 miles of white sand and turquoise ocean. The only all inclusive resort on the island is Beaches Turks and Caicos. The island offers all adult bars and resturants. Beaches Turks has 4 resorts combined into 1 big resort where you can enjoy all of the locations for free.

The island's #1 attraction is the long stretch of white sand beaches along with the coral reefs. If you like to snorkel or scuba dive, Beaches Turks offers both activities for free everyday! Or if you prefer a glass bottom boat tour, they also offer this everyday. Beaches Turks gives guests unlimited use of the waterpark and unlimited dining for all 21 restaurants.

If you can go to Beaches Turks and Caicos between September and November, they are less busy which is very nice for dining at the resturants! And you won't have to wait in line at the water park during their slower season.

Thank you so much for sharing all of these amazing honeymoon destinations with us, Carlie! Remember, 2 Travel Anywhere offers FREE honeymoon planning and advice, so contact her to book an appointment today!

Urban Cowboy Bed & Breakfast: Nashville’s Most Hip Overnight Stay

Thursday, July 28, 2016

You've seen it on Instagram. The incredible photos of clawfoot tubs against navajo print walls. The platform beds with soft faux fur blankets. The quirky wallpaper with antler accents. It's Nashville's hottest bed and breakfast: Urban Cowboy.

Located in a Queen Anne Victorian mansion in East Nashville, Urban Cowboy houses 8 rooms that uniquely dance to their own beat. Urban Cowboy gives Nashville newlyweds a boutique wedding night experience like no other. Each room is equipped with a luxurious tub (7 of them are clawfoot!) and a bold "Southwestern deco" theme.

Founders Lyon Porter and Jersey Banks began their journey in Brooklyn in 2014 opening up the first Urban Cowboy location. It quickly became a staple of Brooklyn culture - uniting travelers with big ideas. Banks and Porter decided to open the second location for this urban movement in our very own Nashville, TN. With the hopes of bringing artists, adventurers, designers and wanderers together to connect, the East Nashville mansion is situated with two communal areas. And what a treat is has been to our creative culture so far!

So, if your bridesmaids are calling out for a fun and artsy bachelorette adventure, Urban Cowboy is just the place! And there's no better way to relax with your girl group than having an in-room massage like the Head Over Heels for a head or foot massage. Or go all out and spend a romantic afternoon with your husband with the Couples Retreat massage and a Salt of the Earth bath. It's just another way to spend the day in one of these swoon-worthy rooms!

Plus, Urban Cowboy is now offering (gasp) private event space! Host an intimate engagement party with friends or even a rehearsal dinner hangout of sorts. Contact them for more information.

Be SURE to follow Urban Cowboy on Instagram for some incredible magazine-worthy photos.

Or visit their website to book your room!

Plan your Summer Honeymoon with 2 Travel Anywhere

Monday, June 20, 2016

Planning your honeymoon on top of planning your wedding can be a daunting task of sorts. However, 2 Travel Anywhere can help you in this task and plan your honeymoon for you! And for the summer bride, Carlie from 2 Travel Anywhere has some tips for planning your summer getaway. So whether you’ll be participating in tropical excursions or relaxing on the beach all day, Carlie shared some tips for ABG readers on summer honeymoon destinations:

Is there a specific honeymoon destination you would recommend for a summer bride?

Carlie: Really anywhere in the Caribbean and Mexico is perfect in the summer! One of our favorite Caribbean Islands for summer is Jamaica. People are so genuinely friendly and hospitable on the island. The natural beauty of the island is so stunning with the rolling mountains, white sand beaches, lush foliage, streaming rivers and cascading waterfalls. With so much to offer, you can do as much or as little as you want!

2 Travel Anywhere’s top choice is Sandals Resorts. As a Sandals Certified Specialist, we know everything about all the Sandals Resort options!  Sandals Resorts are adults-only and all-inclusive. Their slogan is “A Paradise Created For Two People in Love.” You can enjoy all-inclusive luxury vacations at Sandals' Caribbean resorts and see for yourself why we offer the most romantic getaways with more quality inclusions than any other luxury beach resort. You won’t want to miss the gorgeous white sand beaches, savory dining experiences, opulent accommodations, unlimited refreshing beverages, exciting water sports, and more. There are so many options in Jamaica - it really depends on what you and your husband are interested in doing!  You have the choice of the South Coast, Negril, Montego Bay and Ocho Rios. Each location offers something completely different!

Is the weather nicer in certain honeymoon destinations than others?

Carlie: Caribbean tropical getaways always make for nice weather. Sunny weather Negril Jamaica has one of the best sunsets in the world!

What are some fun summer activities to do on your honeymoon?

Carlie: There are unlimited ways to have fun! At 2 Travel Anywhere, we love all-inclusive resorts where you can do everything or do nothing at all. Zip-lining, waterfalls, swimming with dolphins, glass bottom boat tours, snorkeling, scuba diving are all great summer activities. Typically activities outside of the resort cost extra, but everything at the resort is all included.

As the birthplace of jerk, reggae and Blue Mountain Coffee, Jamaica is a wonderland of allure and stunning, natural beauty. From the scenic cliffs and majestic falls to pristine lagoons and bubbling hot springs, the region boasts plenty of things to do amid a diverse terrain. There are plenty of tours and excursions that satisfy the whims of the most adventurous or the most laid-back traveler. With the vibrant culture and serene countryside, you can experience a day of riding a river raft along the Martha Brae or zip-lining full-speed down a canopy traverse over ancient sugar mill ruins.

What advice can you give couples trying to plan a summer honeymoon?

Carlie: Start planning now. And start a honeymoon registry to help with your budget. Honeymoon registries are becoming a hot trend for couples these days. Why not have money towards your honeymoon rather than your traditional gifts you may already have? Rather than registering for household items they don’t need, couples now seem to do a honeymoon registry.

How can 2 Travel Anywhere help couples with their summer honeymoon?

Carlie: From free help to better prices, with 2 Travel Anywhere it is all about the “2” of you.
