The cookie dough trend is alive and well! It's been on the scene in places like New York and California and it's made it's way to Nashville! And what's so much fun is that local Nashville area caterer Chef's Market is bringing this trend to Nashville weddings! With a variety of options to choose from, Chef's Market is here to tell us all about incorporating this trend into your wedding. The best part is that it's egg-free (and still tastes delicious!). Tell us about your company + how long you've been in business.

Mags: Baking started as a labor of love for founder and baker extraordinaire Mags Miller. At the end of 2009, after leaving the entertainment production company she worked for, she finally found herself focusing all of her energy and free time on her long time passion for being in the kitchen. The years of friends, family and co-workers asking her to bake for their dinner parties and events suddenly started to take over as she now had time to accommodate their requests…and her first venture into the baking world, yuMMy Baked was born! Making sure she set herself apart from all the amazing cupcake and bake shops that already existed, Mags Miller decided to take two of the most popular goodies out there, cupcakes and donuts (which most people try to stay away from because they’re fried), and marry the two…creating her signature yuMMy baked donuts! The baked donuts were such a hit, people couldn’t get enough! They immediately became her best seller, a favorite of kids and adults, and her signature treat. As time progressed so did yuMMy baked and Mags Miller found herself not only baking donuts, but also returning to her roots making cakes, pies, cookies, bars, and more! Helping clients to make their dreams come true by collaborating to celebrate the special moments in their lives, not only did she bake the signature cake and/or donuts, she also put together the entire dessert bar and buffet for their parties and events. Therefore, as this became more about her and her vision, yuMMy baked evolved into Mags Miller Bakeshop & Co. Still specializing in made-to-order fresh baked donuts but now offering so much more!

How did you get started in weddings?

Mags: I was catering parties and events all over Southern California and when looking for the next sweet treat for a wedding, a few clients asked if I would help them out and of course I said, yes!

What's the philosophy behind your company?

Mags: We make a little bit sweeter one unique baked treat at a time!

What are your strengths compared to others in your category?

Mags: It's an honor to be asked to be a part of a couple's special day. Therefore, I do all that I can to make sure to take the time to understand what they're looking for and make their vision a reality. From there I often cater their baby shower, birthdays and so much more.

What attracts brides to your business (+ describe that bride!)?

Mags: A bride that is looking for a dessert bar, with something unique and different is attracted to me. There's no task I'm not afraid to tackle.

What is the most innovative new product, service, style or other aspect of your industry that brides and grooms might appreciate?

Mags: Brides are always looking for the next big thing...something that will set them apart from everyone else. My signature yuMMy baked mini-donuts are a perfect fit!

Is there anything else you'd like to share about your company?

Mags: After years of catering in the Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Pacific Palisades areas of California for some of the top A-list celebrities and high profile clients, I'm excited to bring my vision to Nashville!

Nashville Bride Guide’s Best Wedding Cakes of 2016

Let's keep it going with the best of Nashville weddings from this year! Yesterday we explored the floral realm, and today we'll tackle cakes! This year's wedding cakes ranged from classic white buttercream to eclectic shapes and colors. We surveyed each published wedding and styled shoot this year and here are our picks for the best of the best!

1) Courtney's simplistic, lush white buttercream cake

Classic white textured cakes with sprigs of greenery were (and still are!) a huge trend in 2016! Courtney's cake by The Rolling Pin sitting atop a hammered silver cake stand tied in with their whole theme!

A custom stamped initial "A" and vintage lace patterned layers made Jennifer's cake by Patty Cakes one of a kind. Add in some florals and you've got one beautiful cake (almost too beautiful to eat)!

Fall Wedding Dessert Trends from Baked in Nashville

Fall brings out some of the best desserts! Warm spices, apple, cinnamon... and of course the most "basic" pumpkin! When it comes to innovation and creativity with desserts, Baked in Nashville's Tiffany Riches is the queen! Her macaron creations are top-notch in Nashville and her cakes are out of this world! Each and every flavor is custom made by Tiffany - the hard work and dedication she's put into making everything from scratch is unmatched. From macaron towers to naked cakes, Tiffany gave us the low down on what's trending for Fall wedding desserts in Nashville. Take a look at what she's created!

What are some dessert trends you're seeing at weddings this fall?

Tiffany: A huge dessert trend this fall is definitely French macarons. Whether it's a macaron tree, individual favors at each place setting, or as part of a dessert bar, they are everywhere! We love to customize flavors and colors to match wedding decor! Also, NAKED CAKES! "Naked cakes" are the cakes you see that either have no buttercream around the outside, or very little buttercream, where you still see some of the cake poking through (hence the name "naked"). They are often decorated with fresh flowers and even candied cranberries or gilded raspberries to give a pop of color.

What are some fall flavors Baked in Nashville is offering to brides?

Tiffany: I am super excited about our fall macaron flavors this year!

-Pumpkin Spice: white chocolate ganache mixed with real pumpkin and spices.

-Blackberry: blackberries, lemon, and sugar = jam, as simple as that.

-S'more: fresh, homemade marshmallow fluff swirled with chocolate ganache and sprinkled with homemade graham cracker crumbs.

-Apple Pie: Granny Smith apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg...just like Grandma use to make it!

-Mocha: crushed coffee beans steeped in cream and mixed with dark chocolate to create a creamy coffee ganache.

-Butterscotch: homemade butterscotch sauce in the center of butterscotch buttercream.

What is your most popular fall flavor?

Tiffany: Chocolate cake with caramel buttercream is a very popular fall cake flavor. We make our caramel sauce in house and mix it with our Italian buttercream and then layer it and the caramel sauce between layers of delicious chocolate cake. Our most popular French macaron flavor would probably have to be either the pumpkin spice (because, pumpkin!) or the s'more. I can't forget about our chocolate bourbon pecan pie! This has so much goodness in it, it's hard to decide whether you should do large ones or individual so each guest has their own!

How are brides getting creative with their wedding desserts?

Tiffany: Many brides have started doing dessert "bars" for their guests. This can include anything from mini pies, macarons, cupcakes, individual banana puddings, to being as simple as chocolate chip cookies! Also, as mentioned, French macaron trees are popping up more and more often. This includes a tiered stand with an assortment of flavors and colors cascading down.

Do you have any fun dessert ideas for bridal shower or wedding favors?

Tiffany: I love decorating custom sugar cookies! This can be for bridal showers, bachelorette parties, or wedding favors. Wedding dresses, tuxedos, and custom monogramed cookies are big at bridal showers and the weddings themselves! Bachelorette parties tend to get a little more fun with lingerie cookies and blinged out diamond rings. Another beautiful accent to a wedding can be individual cakes or desserts that are displayed at each place setting, or even as part of the table centerpiece.

Yum! Not sure about you, but I've got a hankerig for some macarons right about now!
