Farm to Table Inspiration: The Big Fake Wedding Nashville at The Cordelle

Wednesday, April 12, 2017

The farm to table movement is alive and well - especially in Nashville! And I think it's here to stay... as do the folks at The Big Fake Wedding! The national traveling wedding show (of sorts!) took root in Nashville this past March and delivered a one-of-a-kind "fake wedding" event to brides + wedding professionals here in our great city! The beautiful real couple took their vows at the gorgeous Cordelle beneath a clear frame tent out in the courtyard from Grand Central Party Rental. With two gorgeous designer dresses from The Dress Theory, makeup by FaceFetish and so many incredible designers setting the scene with table scapes, creative culinary treats and more, the day was definitely one to make most Nashville brides swoon! Take a look at all the beautiful photos below from three incredible photographers from the day!

Monday, April 3, 2017

Hello hello! I have some really exciting news over here in Nashville Bride Guide land! Nashville Bride Guide + White Ink Calligraphy are co-hosting a calligraphy workshop for brides! It will take place at the beautiful historical venue Briar Rose Hill on April 29th from 10:30am-12:30pm. This workshop is for brides + 1 guest of honor! You'll have the chance to learn calligraphy basics from Claire White of White Ink Calligraphy, take home your very own calligraphy set, create framed calligraphy wall art, and grab some info and resources to help you plan your Nashville wedding!

What can you expect at the calligraphy workshop? Here's a little timeline of how the day will go!

10:30 am - Guests arrive, mingle, have some food/drinks

10:40 am - Introductions + Itinerary for the day

10:45 am - Calligraphy 101 class with Claire

11:30 am - Break for brunch by Loveless Catering and receive tours from Briar Rose Hill

12:00 pm - Begin framed take home project

12:30 pm - Group photo and final announcements

Also, did I mention you'll receive a swag bag chock full of goodies from some of our favorite Nashville wedding professionals? I already heard that Briar Rose Hill's scented candles and the famous Loveless jams will be making an appearance in each bag! Plus, here's what you'll receive in your take-home calligraphy starter kit (each item is hand-picked by Claire!):

Pen Holder

Tracing Paper

Guideline Sheets

Hand lettering instructions

And what about the food + drinks? We've got you covered! Bar Magnolia will be on-site serving some beautiful hand-crafted cocktails and Loveless Catering will serve their famous buttermilk biscuits + jam as well as hash brown casserole, bacon and more! Wow - I'm getting hungry already! And you'll eat all of this delicious food from vintage china from The Wedding Plate! (We had to have cute plates for this event!)

What will the space look like? Briar Rose Hill is a historic home and wedding venue and our workshop will take place in the bridal suite (yes, it's that beautiful room with the magnificent fireplace!). Liberty Party Rental will provide us with some farm tables and J. Alexander Home Designs will be there with some cute pieces to showcase. Petals & Fields will be installing some gorgeous flowing flowers along the grand staircase and Nashville Event Planning will spruce up the workspace with some fresh florals in the bridal suite.

Hannah Elaine Photography + Anne Claire Patterson will be documenting the workshop with photography and videography. So you'll get to see it all in action after the fact and share the experience with friends and family.

We only have space for 30 attendees, so be sure to grab your tickets quickly before it sells out!

Goodwill Nashville Wedding Gala Set for March 18th in Rivergate

Thursday, March 2, 2017

When I first heard that Goodwill was hosting a wedding gala in Nashville, I was so excited! As a second-hand wedding dress bride myself, this cause held dear to my heart! And when I heard that they were selling designer dresses between $99-$399, my heart skipped a beat! I mean... I don't think you can find deals as good as this one anywhere! So mark your calendars for March 18th and read below for more details on this incredible event!

More than 500 wedding dresses and 400 bridesmaid gowns will be sold at bargain prices during the Goodwill Wedding Gala from 6 a.m.-10 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, at the Rivergate Goodwill store, 2101 Gallatin Pike North in Madison.

Prices for wedding gowns will range from $99 to $399. Brand names such as Monique Lhuillier, Tomasina and Amsale, and popular styles in short and long lengths and many colors and sizes, will be available. Local bridal stores donated much of the merchandise.

“This sale is a once-a-year chance for brides-to-be and bridesmaids to find the dress of their dreams at an amazing price,” said Goodwill Retail District Manager Jennifer Martin. “Goodwill’s entire stock of these dresses will be on the sales floor from the start of the sale, so shoppers should come early.”

Dresses, as well as jewelry and accessories, will be found in a featured section at the front of the store. Wedding-related vendors, such as salons, venue providers, photographers and caterers will also be on hand. There will also be refreshments and giveaways.

Shoppers can gain early entrance to the sale, to browse and purchase dresses as much as an hour before the general public, by making a $25 donation at the door. These VIP passes can be obtained from 5-6 a.m.

The Rivergate Goodwill store is open 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday and noon-6 p.m. Sunday. The phone number is (615) 859-4473.

So much fun was had and I hope it brought joy to everyone who attended. Nashville Bride Guide would not be here without the love and support of each and every one of you reading this! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of the words of encouragement that were shared with me, the kind emails and messages and all of the photo sharing on Instagram. RED Spirits + Wine Pink Valentine’s Day Drinks Served at the Nashville Bride Guide Launch Party

Tuesday, February 14, 2017

Happy Valentine's Day! We have a really fun post for you today! RED Spirits & Wine has so graciously sponsored our Nashville Bride Guide Launch Party on February 21st from 6pm-8pm. With their huge selection of beers, wines, spirits + mixers, we had a ball picking out the best flavors to go along with our pink whimsical theme! And since I'm no expert in this area, Jess with RED was so patient with me and made the perfect suggestions for the party! So whether you like rosè, beer or a cocktail, we've got you covered! She'll aslo mention how these drinks are perfect to serve at your wedding! I'll let Jess take it from here and introduce you to the drinks you can expect at our official launch!

Beer: Rubaeus—Founders; Grand Rapids, Michigan

Jess: You may be a craft beer nerd like me, or you may consider yourself more of a wine person. Either way, your guests are going to want to drink beer. Well, I’m going to give you a winning suggestion—Founders Brewing, Rubaeus. When it comes to the beer you choose, presentation is a big deal. Wine and cocktail drinkers will be using glassware. No one will be able to tell what they were drinking when they look back on the reception photos later. But everyone will remember what beer they raised in a toast to you when they see the label on the can or bottle in photos for the rest of time. You get one go at this, and this is how you can make it count: Founders Brewing, Rubaeus Raspberry Ale. You can choose from a 12 ounce glass bottle or aluminum can. Both have pink raspberries on them and sage colored leaves. If you need to add a bold touch to your color scheme, go with the bright pink can! This beer has an alcohol percentage of 5.7% so you wont have to worry about your guests getting too crazy - even if they have more than one. And the IBUs, referring to bitterness, is only 15. This is certainly a winning beer no matter what the taste preferences of your guests are. With this memorable choice, your guests are bound to leave with a new favorite beer.

Rosè: Poema Brut Rosè Cava—Spain

Jess: Pop open a bottle of this vibrant sparkling underdog! This is a fruity and food friendly Cava. Poema Brut Rosè Cava is full of big red berry flavors: strawberry, raspberry, cherry, with a little bit of twig and pink grapefruit. This would be a fun one to dress up with pomegranate seeds or strawberry slices.

Cocktail: Prickly Pear Mule

Jess: Every time of year is the perfect time for a Moscow Mule. I’m sure you’ve heard of this classic cocktail. It’s easy. The ingredients are vodka, ginger beer, lime. But have you ever thought of taking something so simple, giving it a tiny spin, and making it the focal point of your celebration’s menu? I’ve taken this basic drink, which by the way is always a favorite, and made it unique and still just as delicious. Just by adjusting the measurements a tiny bit so as to keep the sweetness level balanced, you have the Prickly Pear Mule. The prickly pear syrup does add a bit of sweetness, but not so much that it overpowers the lime and the spiciness from the ginger beer. Plus, it adds the most beautiful pink hue. This is the perfect way to incorporate “the mule” into your Valentine’s Day plans or your wedding day. Even if pink isn’t one of your theme colors, you can always use this recipe as the Mrs. in your Mr. & Mrs. signature drinks. Just put this next to a strong bourbon based cocktail like an Old Fashioned and you’ve got a pair of drinks that can carry you through anything.

Prickly Pear Mule Drink Recipe:

1.5oz Vodka

3/4oz Finest Call Prickly Pear Mix

1/2oz Lime Juice

Top with approx. 4oz Ginger Beer

Yes way, rosè! We're so excited about our drink selections! And Jess is giving away all her secrets by giving us the cocktail recipe so we can make it at home! Happy Valentine's Day - I hope you and your fiancè are spending some QT together! xoxo
