All about Grupo Xcaret: A Great Honeymoon Destination in Riviera Maya, Mexico from Linda Dancer of Honeymoons, Inc.

As if we needed anymore reasons to convince us that a honeymoon in Riviera Maya is a good idea, Linda Dancer of Honeymoons Inc. has us ready to pack our bags! She is sharing all about Grupo Xcaret — a beautiful destination in Cancun, Mexico. Linda actually just returned from a stay at the resort and is sharing all the details you need to know. From the perks and the amenities to the culture and bespoke experience, keep on scrolling to find out more!

What makes the Riviera Maya, Cancun Mexico such a great honeymoon destination?

Linda: The main reason is clients get so much value for the money spent with the variety of all-inclusive resorts available regardless of budget range.  Secondly, there are great flights into Cancun from across the Southeast so clients do not spend their first day of their honeymoon traveling for hours. The third main reason is the gorgeous beaches and warm friendly staff.

You have just returned from Cancun yourself, tell us about the  Groupo Xcaret Hotels.

Linda: Group Xcaret started with just their amazing adventure parks featuring local rivers, jungles, cenotes and more throughout the region –(Xcaret, Xel-Ha,Xplor, Xenses, XOXIMILCO, Splor Fuego, Xavage and Xenote) as a guest of the Hotels Xcaret you have full access to all the parks which is a huge savings and also makes for an incredible vacation experience as a couple or with your family (on average for a family of four staying a week, this is over a $2000 savings if staying at other hotels and visiting the parks).

Grupo Xcaret realized that visitors to their parks were staying at other hotels and coming to the parks, as they had a lot of land available within their parks, they decided to build their own hotels and start their All-Fun Inclusive concept hotels which include transportation to/from the parks and entrance into the parks, a totally sustainable approach to Mexican hospitality, learn and appreciate the culture of Mexico.

There are three hotels within the Group Xcaret Hotel Group: Hotel Xcaret Mexico is the family friendly resort, Hotel Xcaret Arte is the new adults only resort, and boutique luxury adults La Casa de la Playa.

Hotel Xcarte Mexico – for everyone opened in 2017 and every aspect of the hotel is a tribute to the Mayan culture of Mexico through dining (12 dining options), cultural activities, architecture and décor throughout the hotel.

A variety of rooms and suites with views of the Caribbean Sea, the river that runs through the resort or jungle – local artisans were hired to create elements found throughout all the suites – suites range from regular size  to huge master suites, found in five Casas, featuring 5 elements (Casa Tierra, Casa Fuego, Casa Espiral, Casa Viento, Casa Agua). Casa Tierra is perfect for family as it is close to the beach and main infinity pool. Casa Fuego is the adults only Casa in this hotel. Casa Espiral close to restaurants and convention center and overlooks the chapel. Casa Viento is best for families with very small children near kids club. Casa Agua is known for its volcano stone jacuzzi and views of the river and jungle and closest to Muluk Spa (Oh my goodness the spa is incredible it is inside a natural cave).

Hotel Xcarte Arte opened in July of 2021. Each of the four Casas features a different type art. Casa Del Diseno focuses on weaving, Casa De La Piramide focuses on pottery, and Casa De La Musica focuses on dance. I personally stayed in Casa De Los Artistas -the most exclusive- which focuses on painting. The butler service I experienced here was so incredible and thoughtful. The rooftop bar and pool was a great experience. Exclusive access to Kibi-Kibi Restaurant. The tapestry and hand painted shower tiles in my suite were just beautiful.

Around the world there are many boutique luxury resorts but La Casa De La Playa is unlike any I had ever experience before. There are only 63 luxury suites. Somehow, they managed to make all the suites both intimate and extremely sophisticated at the same time without any air of pretension- each detail was carefully considered.  Adults only, beach front, each with a private plunge pool. My suite had a jellyfish sanctuary in the wall which was just mesmerizing, I love the beachfront suites with direct access to the beach.

Everything about your stay at La Casa de la Playa is tailor made to each guest – from the moment you arrive to the airport your transfers are provided in private luxury cars (also your transportation to the parks is in a luxury car), dining is an experience unto itself, I must confess I am a clinical chocoholic if there is such a thing – the Chocolateria candy boutique by master chocolatier Mao Montiel was a little slice of heaven for me. Muluk Spa – I know would have been incredible , but as I spent the day at Muluk Spa when staying at Hotel Xcaret Arte I didn’t do the spa here. Biblioteca – loved time spent here with a gourmet coffee in hand, and for wine lovers, CAVA a wine cellar like no other a collection of Mexican and International wines as well as private label by sommelier Sandra Fernandez.

The Infinity Pool – so cool – elevated and runs towards the ocean overlooking the sea from the end of the pool is a definite Instagram worthy photo opportunity.
