Annalise + Brandon’s Destination Wedding in Nashville at Houston Station

Friday, May 26, 2017

What do you get when a musician + a vocalist cross paths in Nashville? Well, for Annalise + Brandon, it was true love! Since the couple met here in Music City, they decided to have a destination wedding in Nashville at Houston Station! The couple's decor centered around their musical background and also showcased the industrial historic train station feel that Houston Station offers to so many couples. I'm loving their classy touches mixed with casual characteristics - like the bride's glamorous accessories mixed with her Converse shoes! It's definitely the Nashville way. :) Take a look at more of Tracy Shoopman's photos and hear how the night went straight from Tracy herself!

From the photographer, Tracy Shoopman: Annalise is originally from Colorado but she and Brandon met in Nashville... and so Nashville is where they decided to have their destination wedding. Annalise and Brandon's wedding took place at the Historic Houston Train Station. We loved the venue with the exposed brick and peeling paint.. it added so much character. The bride and groom also sing and play wonderfully together as you can see in some of the images. Overall, the beautiful couple and the beautiful venue made for a beautiful wedding.

More from the photographer, Tracy Shoopman: Their  wedding theme was country-chic and inspired by "I Hear the Train a'Comin'". Mis-matched china, beautiful clear glass goblets, a chandelier, off whites and some blush (pale warm peachy pink) were also used to create the look and feel of the wedding.

Thank you so much for sharing Annalise + Brandon's wedding with us, Tracy! You can check out more of Tracy Shoopman's photography work here on her website. Also be sure to check out more on Houston Station here!

Questions to Ask Your Wedding Floral Designer by T Villager Designs

Thursday, May 25, 2017

If you’re like me, you might admire flowers, love having them in your house and wish you could have a beautiful garden in your backyard. But if you’re like me, you may not know the first place to start when ordering flowers - especially if it’s for your wedding! The good news is that we have Jack and Troy of T Villager Designs here today guest posting on the blog about what to ask your wedding floral designer. So whether you want flowers dripping from every corner of your wedding venue or if you’re more of a minimalist, these questions will help guide you in the right direction when meeting with your Nashville wedding florist. I’ll let the experts at T Villager Designs take it from here!

Wedding flowers are an important part of a bride’s wedding day and floral design is a true art form. Flowers are one of the focal points that create the look and mood to support the bride’s vision for her wedding.

There are several questions to consider when consulting with a floral designer in order for a bride to make the best informed decision. Below is a short list of some questions to think about when meeting with a floral designer. Although not all inclusive, these questions might be helpful.

1. Have you provided flowers at my chosen ceremony and reception location before? If not, are you familiar with the site/sites?

2. Where did you receive your training to work with flowers and how long have you and your designers been working with flowers?

3. How many weddings will you schedule on the same day or same weekend? If there are multiple weddings you do on one day/weekend how will that be structured so I know my wedding will get the attention it needs?

4. What design styles do you primarily work with in your floral designs?

5. What recommendations can you give me to help me maximize my budget?

6. What flowers are in season for the month I am getting married? Can I get the flowers I want? Will it be more expensive for flowers not in season?

7. How far in advance of my wedding will you create bouquets and arrangements and how are they kept fresh?

8. Is there an extra fee if I need you to stay throughout the ceremony to move arrangements to the reception site?

9. Will you provide me with an itemized list of all the elements we’ve discussed along with pricing for each element and flowers to be used in bouquets, etc.?

10. What are your payment terms?

The list of questions a bride may want to ask her floral designer can go far beyond the questions above and each bride should choose the questions that will help her make her best informed decisions.

There are many wonderful floral designers in our community who are very talented and do great work. Finding the floral designer that best meets your needs, your budget requirements that you work well with is very important.

Tell us more about Entertain! TN!

Brandon: I founded Entertain! with this vision: To create the ultimate party experience, with the highest level of professionalism and customer service. We provide DJ services, state-of-the-art photo booths, event lighting, musicians, and much more! We take the time to get to know you, learn your taste in music, and understand the importance of every little detail that goes into an event. We meet with all of our clients, and correspond quickly to questions. You don't have to wait hours or days for a response with us. Our staff is friendly, personable, and they truly care about making your event exceptional. Entertain! has provided thousands of events throughout Middle Tennessee. Not only do we provide entertainment for Nashville, Franklin, and surrounding cities, we can also travel to you.

What was the purpose behind the launch party?

Brandon: The purpose of the Launch Party was to celebrate new beginnings; as well as, to entertain hundreds of event professionals before wedding season was in full swing. I wanted our guests to let loose and have a really good time, while also networking with one another. I also wanted to showcase other sponsoring vendors to highlight some of the best vendors in Middle Tennessee.

How did you come up with the design? What was the feel you were going for at the party?

Brandon: I was fortunate to partner with Laurie Hardman of Laurie D'Anne Events who did a spectacular job designing the party. We came up with a Miami poolside themed Spring Soiree to help tie in the many wonderful features East Ivy Mansion offers. As guests arrived they were greeted by Entertain! musicians playing string instruments and handed champagne. As they made their way through the garden to the pool area we had furniture by So Cool Events that really captivated the Miami feel. We partnered with Red, Spirits & Wine that made delicious cocktails that matched the theme, and it was deliciously paired with food by Dream Events and Catering and Homestead Manor. To really bring it all together we supplied tons of lighting to help set the mood and make the venue "glow". We then featured sets from each of our DJs to get the Miami music vibes, and showcase how talented our DJs are. It was such an incredible experience.

Did you run into potential road blocks along the way? (weather, planning, etc.?) If so, how did you overcome them?

Brandon: Weather in Tennessee is so unpredictable. Two days prior it forecasted scattered thunderstorms; however, I made the call to continue the party as plan. Risk taker here! It only rained for about 20 minutes from 4-4:20 and fortunately all of the vendors were prepared for it. Once the rain past, we finished setting up and had the party rocking right on time for our guests at 5pm.

What was the ultimate feedback about the party after the fact?

Brandon: Everyone LOVED it. I received tons of compliments and people raving about how it was the best party they had ever been to. Most of the guests were used to networking events with boring music, with the sole purpose of passing business cards back and forth. They were blown away by the experience Entertain! and all the sponsoring vendors provided. We had around 300 guests show up who were all event professionals, it was unbelievable. We are now expected to host a party every year, so now that we set the bar we can't wait to surpass it!

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Brandon: I would like to thank all of the sponsors who help make it such a huge success. I couldn't of done it without them!! Much love!

Bonus feature! Check out the mini styled shoot images below by Abigail Volkmann Photography!

Thanks for sharing all about your launch, Brandon! You can check out more on Entertain TN! and what they can do for your Nashville wedding here. And also be sure to follow them on Instagram!

Often times we get caught up in the day to day wedding planning tasks. And although the day is all about you as a couple, many couples look for ways to give back through their wedding. One great way to do that is through your wedding registry! Especially if you are looking for some unique products to decorate your home with, starting your wedding registry at Ten Thousand Villages is definitely the way to go! Tell us about your shop Ten Thousand Villages! Where are you located, the history, and what types of products do you offer?

Jo: Ten Thousand Villages is a 100% Fair Trade retail store. We are not your typical business. We are a non-profit social enterprise that partners with independent small-scale artisan groups, co-ops and workshops to bring their wares to our markets.

What is the philosophy behind Ten Thousand Villages?

Jo: Ten Thousand Villages creates opportunities for artisans in developing countries to earn income by bringing their products and stories to our markets through long-term, fair trading relationships. That is our only goal. Every purchase improves the lives of the makers by supporting their craft and providing a fair, stable income.

We hear you offer wedding registries! Tell us about the process.

Jo: You can sign up online, or in your local store. Your registry can be accessed at any Ten Thousand Villages Store. To sign up on-line, go to At the top of the screen, click on "wedding registry." Step-by-step directions are provided.

What types of wedding gifts do you offer?

Jo: Kitchen ware such as, place mats, tablecloths and napkins, hot pads, and dishcloths. Home decor including stone and metal bookends, carved stone coasters, woven sari chairs, pillows, hand-woven and metal wall hangings. Spring pots and garden decor. Unique jewelry for the bride or bridal attendants. Beautiful hand blown wine glasses, serving dishes, baskets. Wedding sculptures made from kissi stone.

Tell us about more ways couples can give back by buying products at your shop.

Jo: Every purchase improves the lives of makers by supporting their craft and providing a fair, stable income. We offer a way for you to become part of the story, to shop your values and give gifts with meaning. Because this is bigger than us. You may also make a monetary donation to help us further our mission.

What are some of the main communities and organizations that benefit from shopping at Ten Thousand Villages?

Jo: Together, we directly impact the lives of 20,000 makers in 30 developing countries. Some of the communities include Dhaka, Bangladesh, where women make beautiful throws and pillows from recycled saris; Phnom Penh, Cambodia, where artisans use bomb casings remnants to transform items meant for war into wearable beauty; Tirupur, India, where people of the marginalized Harijan community in a village in Tamil Nadu region craft vegetable glycerin soaps.

Thank you so much for sharing all of your insight with us, Jo! I am such a huge fan of Ten Thousand Villages and we are so excited to have you represent a unique wedding registry option for couples right here in Nashville! Ashlee + Richard’s Romantic Summer Wedding in the Rain by Prairie Rose Events

Monday, May 22, 2017

With all the rain we had this weekend, I was thinking about all the brides making their rain plan decisions... it's a tough call to make for sure and I admire every single couple's will to go with the flow and know their love is greater than any weather that is thrown their way. And this is why Ashlee + Richard's wedding is perfect to showcase today! As a rainy day couple themselves, planner + designer Emily of Prairie Rose Events & Design describes their day so beautifully - it sure helps working with a couple who can gracefully weather the weather - you can just tell how strong their bond is in times like these! The beautiful barn setting at Southall Meadows and upscale details made their wedding shine through even the rainiest of days. See all of their photos by Sharpe + Walker Photography below!

Venue | Southall Meadows

Planner | Prairie Rose Events & Design

Florals | Elder Floral

Catering | Peg Leg Porker

Rentals | Southern Event Rentals

Music | Premier DJs

From the planner & designer, Emily of Prairie Rose Events: Ashlee + Richard are a loving and down-to-earth couple who wanted wanted a romantic wedding in Southall Meadow's century old tobacco barn. Both have huge personalities and lead busy lives: Richard is on the coaching team for MTSU's women's basketball and Ashlee is a rugby player. They have huge laughs and did so much of this wedding themselves. Ashlee collected over 200 wine bottles to use as her centerpieces, washed them all in her bathtub to remove the labels, and dried them out on her apartment's porch. She also learned how to make candles, and she created leather & whisky candles for their guests to take home from the wedding.

They poured so much time and effort into their wedding, and then wouldn't you know, it began raining about fifteen minutes before their ceremony. With guests arriving and half wanting to sit in the rain so Ashlee & Richard could have their wedding between the two hills outside and the other half huddling inside the barn, there was a big question to be answered. Where will we do the ceremony? Having to choose the rain plan is what every bride dreads during the planning process and so many lose sleep over. I've never seen it handled better by any couple.

From the planner & designer, Emily of Prairie Rose Events: After we talked about the positives and negatives of both options, Richard looked at Ashlee (they did their first look earlier) and said something along the lines of, "I love that it rained. I love that our day isn't perfect because if it was perfect it wouldn't be us and it wouldn't be a marriage." He put his soon to be wife at ease and made the decision so easy for her. That is a couple who can weather anything.

We went with the rain plan: a reception style ceremony, which the guests appreciated. We opened the doors behind the preacher and let the rainy skies act as the backdrop. Ashlee and Richard had a beautiful ceremony and then we got to the party! No part of the wedding was dampened by rain, and the couple look back on that day as fondly as any bride who had sunny skies.

Thank you so much for sharing this beautifully rainy wedding with us, Emily! You can check out more of Prairie Rose Events & Design's portfolio on her website here and also here on her Instagram page
